We sometimes ask ourselves the same question… Mediation costs are costs that an intermediary asks to rent out a living space for the landlord. A landlord and/or intermediary may not pass this on to the tenant. However, this is often done. Brokerage costs are also often described differently, such as administration, advice, commission, brokerage or rental costs. In this case too, these are just mediation costs and the prohibition therefore applies.
